Restaurant Barr took over the premises at Strandgade 93 from restaurant Noma in 2017.
Lokation: København, Danmark
Arkitekt: Snøhetta
År: 2017
At Malte Gormsen we’ve been working with the Norwegian architectural design house, Snøhetta, and the team behind the restaurant to establish the essence of Barr. We’ve sourced solid Danish oak grown in protected, state-owned forests north of Copenhagen.
The solid oak planks have been shaped and carved in our five-axis CNC machine and assembled on the walls and in the gaps between the ceiling beams.
Scope of work
The interior and the furniture have been crafted by the cabinetmakers at our workshop (except the round tables and the Finn Juhl chairs).
This includes: front desk, waiter statins, cabinets, high table bench top with integrated ice bucket, coffee and wine bar with bar, curved oak elements on the walls and in the gaps between the ceiling beams, custom made bar-stools designed by Rakel Karlsdóttir, high tables and square tables. We have also refinished the floors.
