Silver medal awarded to Jacob Riis by the Copenhagen Guild of Crafts.
Jacob August Riis Christensen, a newly qualified machine joiner trained at Malte Gormsen Møbelsnedkeri, has been awarded the silver medal from the Copenhagen Guild of Crafts (Håndværkerforeningen i København). The medal was presented by H.M. King Frederik at a formal ceremony at Copenhagen City Hall.
The presentation of the Guild’s medals is a tradition dating back to 1867, with the Royal Family having taken part since 1927. The ceremony recognises both the importance of craftsmanship and the values that go with it: diligence, skill, and the pursuit of quality. The medals are awarded to young craftspeople who have demonstrated exceptional work at their journeyman’s examination.
For us at Malte Gormsen Møbelsnedkeri, it is a great recognition — not only of Jacob’s efforts, but also of the apprenticeship and the craft we work to pass on every day. We are very proud.
