Cabinetmaking in Copenhagen

Malte Gormsen Møbelsnedkeri was born out of a desire to create and craft. Since 1999 we have made bespoke cabinetmaker solutions and furniture embedded in a set of values with a deep-seated respect for the world and its existing structures. Words like quality, genuine craftsmanship, and a timeless aesthetic approach set the framework for a natural justification – and together they tell the story of an uncompromising approach to the craft of cabinetmaking.

The carpentry’s main production and design studio are located in Herlev, just outside Copenhagen. Here, all solutions and furniture are drawn and created from scratch in close dialogue between architects and carpenters.

INTERIOR DESIGN AT RESTAURANT BARR IN COPENHAGEN

We have collaborated with the Norwegian architect and design house, Snøhetta, and the team behind the restaurant to establish the essence of Restaurant Barr, where wood from protected, state-owned forests north of Copenhagen has been used.

OUR DEDICATION AND LOVE FOR WOOD

A tree can be centuries old when it is felled. At Malte Gormsen Møbelsnedkeri we believe that if it’s handled correctly, it should have at least that amount of time ahead of it, too. Wood is by nature a strong material but can, like any other natural material, also be fragile if it’s not treated with the care it deserves. A founding principle at Malte Gormsen Møbelsnedkeri is that with the right treatment, wood has infinite possibilities.
